Outcomes

  • Be more confident in Identifying factors of mental health problems such as how is it recognised, what are triggers and the prevalence of MH issues in Australia.
  • Be capable and confident in identifying the characteristics of Anxiety and Depression and recognising signs and symptoms in themselves and in others.
  • Identify the importance of connectivity in the workplace and how to apply simple wellness techniques to ensure greater workplace wellbeing.
  • Identify practical resilience skills so they can be applied to every day work and home life.
  • Identify what characteristics of behaviours at work may indicate a mental health problem so they can act with more confidence in dealing with the employee.
  • Be capable and confident in identifying the characteristics of Anxiety, Depression and Psychosis and recognising signs and symptoms in themselves and in others.
  • To articulate the rights and responsibilities of managers and employees so they can act with more confidence within their role.
  • Identify their legal obligations so they can act with more confidence in knowing what they can and cannot do within their role.
  • Identify aspects of non disclosure of a mental health problem at work therefore being better equipped to deal with certain situations.
  •  Explain the term Workplace Accommodation and identify elements required to implement appropriate actions within their workplace. 
  • Prepare for and implement a meeting with an employee to discuss a possible or obvious mental health issue so that they have the confidence of achieving a desirable outcome. 
  • Be able to analyse their own reactions when dealing with employees with mental health problems and recognise helpful and unhelpful reactions so they can be more aware in their interactions.
  • Achieve greater confidence in their actions in dealing with a suicidal person; their ability to identify elements of suicidal behaviour; identify useful and not useful words and phrases to use with an at risk person; implement appropriate actions to ensure the risk is minimised and ensure the at risk person is safe.
